On a stormy night, thunder roared as the hostel gates creaked open. A young girl stepped in, her long hair swaying with the wind, her eyes mysterious yet captivating. She looked like a vision—too flawless for a place so ordinary. The warden couldn’t take her eyes off the girl as she signed the register. Her name? Muskan.
As Muskan walked through the corridor, every girl turned to look at her. There was something different about her. She was beautiful—unnaturally beautiful. She politely asked a group of girls, “Where is Room 208?”
A girl from the group stepped forward with a strange smile and said, “That’s my room too. Come, I’ll take you.” She held Muskan’s hand tightly, and without a word more, led her toward the room. Muskan hesitated for a moment… something about the girl felt off. But the girl smiled again—softly, charmingly—and all doubts faded.
As lightning cracked the sky, they both entered the room. The door creaked shut behind them. Inside, silence wrapped around them like a cloak. They smiled at each other and exchanged names. “I’m Sanskriti, a fresher too,” the girl said cheerfully. They hugged lightly, a bond beginning to form… yet something unspoken hung in the air.
Later that evening, Sanskriti insisted Muskan eat something. Muskan noticed the other girls laughing oddly among themselves. After dinner, she invited everyone to her room to get to know them better.
Everyone entered in the room with Muskan. As they entered, Muskan took a box of chocolates from her bag while offering she said, "I made these chocolates for my new friends for begging of our sweet bond with these sweet chocolates".
But at the entrance, they ran into the warden. “Tell me something about your family, Muskan,” she asked suddenly.
Muskan looked her in the eye and calmly replied, “I’m an orphan.”
A heavy silence fell. The warden instantly apologized, but Muskan smiled softly. “It’s okay. It wasn’t your fault.” The warden looked concerned. “I know this might sound harsh… but I need a contact number. Just for reassurance.”
Muskan nodded gently. “I understand… totally. You can take my school teacher Maya’s number.”
Maya. The only name she mentioned. No one knew Maya. No one knew who she really was… except Muskan.
The warden took the number and walked away.
That night, the girls went to sleep.
The room fell quiet.
Everything seemed… normal.
But something wasn’t.
Something had just begun.
